I've been trying to crawl my way out of the pre-production hole to give an update, but it's futile. The to-do list is ENDLESS!!!!! So, here's the quick version. I'll be directing my short film "Animal Instinct" the last week of August. The choreography by Sophie Olsen is AMAZING and guaranteed to bring lots of laughs. I'm also very excited about my cast including Madylin Sweeten, Leslie-Anne Huff and Bobby Rice (to name a few). My crew is also top notch so, not only will it be funny, but it will also look incredible.
The story takes place on audition day at a community dance troupe. The understudy thinks it's her chance to steal the spotlight until a newcomer comes in to try and take her place. LOTS OF PHYSICAL COMEDY and VERY RAUNCHY! (Two of my favorite things)
More to come after we're in post…
Greetings and welcome to my website. It’s a handy tool to get to know a little more about me and what I’m up to these days. For visitors that I haven’t met, my name is MéLisa Lomelino and I’m a screenwriter living in Los Angeles. I write mainly comedy because I love to make people giggle. Want to know even more about me? DEADLINES!!!!
I've been living in bubble world for several weeks now finishing the feature script for a pitch I sold. Needless to say, deadlines are NOT my friend. But, that's okay, who needs sleep anyway. On top of that project I'm also co-writing the feature with Ryun Hovind that is now in the constant cycle of re-writes. Since I can't tell you anything about the plots of either project there isn't much more to say.
Lots of writing, very little sleep and the clock keeps ticking...

Lost in the Land of Rewrites
Hello All! Well, I've been keeping very busy with a lot of rewrite work lately (which has been nice). It's been great to collaborate with so many different writers/producers/directors and to help their visions come to life. I can't post what I'm working on, but I'll be sure to when the projects are done.
On top of that I'm currently finishing the second draft of my feature the "tween" adaption of Jane Austen's "Emma". I love the challenge of writing children & family comedy. That being said, I think I'll be switching modes on my next feature I'm starting in May. It would be a shame to ignore my talent for raunchy R-rated jokes. (and that genre seems to be very hot right now) I've been working on this idea for almost 15 years and I've decided to take the short I wrote and extend it into a feature. I'll be co-writing this project with Ryun Hovind. More to come on that later.
Overall I've been busy, busy, busy writing and I'm going to head back to that now....

Pub Love on Cable TV
The short film I wrote/directed played in San Francisco at the "Community College Film Festival" and on EATV. Thanks to everyone who worked on and supported this project.
